Once part of the Royal Woods of Shotover, Magdalen Wood West is an ancient woodland with small open glades. The woods are accredited with SLINC and LNR status and provide opportunities to sit and relax, contemplate, read or enjoy the wildlife, including a living hazel dragon sculpture installed as part of the Playful Woodlands Project.
